This men's Patek Philippe dress watch is in all 18kt yellow gold case and band. It is, like all Patek models, elegance, simply stated and definitely understood. As with most Pateks, anything that looks like gold, is, and the movements are over all the finest money can buy. This particular Patek is what we call ‘triple signed’, which means that the case, band and movement are all signed Patek Philippe Genève. This band is heavy weight with a light texture, commonly referred to as ‘hobnail’. The dial is champagne in color with Roman numerals and printed ‘Tiffany & Co.’ at the 6 o’clock and Patek Philippe Genève beneath the 12 o’clock, all printed in black, with elegant black tapered hands. The case itself is totally round, measuring 35mm in diameter with a coin edge bezel and tastefully inset crown. This automatic movement, as stated before, is of extreme high-grade, a Patek trademark, containing 27 jewels, with movement serial number 1194459 and movement calibre 240. The case serial number is 1194459 and the case reference number is 240. The approximate manufacture date, according to the movement serial number is 1967
This watch, in its entirety, weighs in at a hefty 82 grams. Patek is recognized by watch collectors the world over as one of the finest. Patek has been in production since 1851, and still, to this day are highly regarded. I equate vintage Patek watches to Mercedes Benz in that it is elegance understated and class unlike any other. Any watch aficionado should have a Patek Philippe in their collection.
Due to the fact that this particular men's dress model model features ‘micro-rotor ‘ type of automatic wind it is able to remain quite thin. Therefore, it is easily able to fit under a dress shirt cuff, and measures just fewer than 6.5mm’s thick; amazingly thin for an automatic watch. Its diameter, at 35mm, is certainly up to par with the more modern production watches and approximately the same diameter as a Rolex Datejust.
