Model: Pierce Watch Co.Triple Calendar Moon-Phase
Production Date: 1940’s
This particular watch is beautiful and classic in design with unique, desirable features such as a triple calendar and moon phase, as well as a sweep second hand. It is unique also in that the movement itself is manufactured by Pierce, instead of another Swiss movement house. The entire calendar/ moon phase watch mechanisms are in perfect working order and condition. This watch has no case or movement numbers whatsoever, therefore an approximate date of manufacture is based on the movement features. This watch is not shock proof, for that reason it would be dated as pre-1950. It is manual wind containing 17 jewels, with a detached lever escapement. The dial is original in Satin white with pink gold plated markers and hands, and a blue outer date register for keeping track of the day of the month. The crown is also in pink to match the markers and hands. There are two windows located just below the 12:00 o’clock marker which tell the day of the week and month. The moon phase window, which is quite beautifully detailed, is located just above the 6 o’clock. The date indicator hand and second hand are both finished with red details. This watch has a gold plated case with a stainless steel back. The gold plating is in excellent condition without any base metal show thru.
The band is a beautifully colored Bordeaux lizard with stitching. The calendars are set using push pin corrector on the side of the case, all of which function perfectly. The movement is manual wind containing 17 jewels, manufactured by Pierce in Switzerland. It is high grade with tuxedo damaskeened plates. It should be noted that this Pierce Triple Calendar Moon Phase watch is all original, aside from the leather strap, and possibly the crown. Most notable, and important, is the original dial, which is without blemishes or sun damage and quite striking.
